Stuart Woods

Stuarts Woods was born in Georgia in 1938 and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1959. He spent his
early career advertising in New York and then in London. It was while he was in London, he decided to write his
first novel. He moved to Ireland to work on his novel. While in Ireland he fell in love with sailing, which end up as
part of the background of several of his later books. Woods life was filled with his love of flying and sailing
with his second wife and their dog between their three homes. Woods passed away in 2022.

His first book, Chiefs didn't do well initially due to the lack of promotion by the publisher. Woods moved to a new
publisher who re-released his book in paperback where it was successful. As a result, Woods won the Edgar Award
for the Best First Novel.

Woods was always focused on the series of novels rather than standalone novels, although he did write some standalone
novels. His most popular being the Stone Barrington Novels. His other series include Holly Barker, Rick Barron,
Ed Eagle, and Will Lee. Woods characters often crossed over from one series to another. For example, Stone Barrington
appears in the Holly Barker series, Rick Barron and Ed Eagle series.

Woods also wrote a series of standalone novels and non-fiction titles.
